At Play in the Kingdom of the Whim

The air opens into nowhere.
You are not what you think.
Near the lair of a laughing gnome
Blue snakes have come to drink.
There is time to catch them
At play
In the kingdom of the Whim.

The fantasies of our physics
Are straw to this new sight.
Above, a marbles game of suns
Hurls into dizzy night.
Because of love they spin
At play
In the kingdom of the Whim.

I vomit all consolation.
Real mirth spills all wine.
Peasants, moviestars, metalheads
Dance subtly linked as vines
Way, way out on a limb
At play
In the kingdom of the Whim.

Foresight and afterthought are dead
As lovers in a tomb
Over whose hybrid weeds we run
With pastries to consume.
No ghostly growing dim
At play
In the kingdom of the Whim.

Around the open ears of scribes
Flit phoenixes that tune
The omnipresences of truth
With baroque embellished runes.
Hear intuition’s hymn
At play
In the kingdom of the Whim.

Look! Being’s granite has shifted.
Greeting this solstice is fun.
No boredom, no fear, no worry
About becoming one.
Time bites its tail and spins
At play
In the kingdom of the Whim.

Early Twelfth-Century Gold

"In her sleep she saw the fireplace of the house ablaze with a tremendous fire, and in the midst of the flames the dead nun was not only on fire, she was also being beaten with a hammer by two evil spirits on either side of her. While the nun lay watching the great torment that her unhappy sister was suffering, a blow of the hammer blew shards right into her eye. The burning sensation caused by the burning spark woke her up. And she realized that what she had seen in her mind she had literally felt in her body. The lesion in her eye was there to confirm the truth of her vision."

More Than War (song lyrics)

Hordes beyond hordes
Gore within gore
Unending spears
More than war!

Dying while dead
Hearts without core
Moments of years
More than war!

Bombs beyond suns
Melting all ore
Piercing all spheres
Infinite war!
